RIYADH:A spectacular, glowing video of a ‘Sky Stadium’ built atop a desert skyscraper, which was widely shared as a genuine concept for the 2034 FIFA World Cup in Saudi Arabia, has been confirmed to be completely fake.
The viral clip, which convinced millions of social media users that it was an official Saudi World Cup project, has been dismissed by officials. “This design is completely fake and bears no resemblance to anything Saudi Arabia is planning,” officials stated.
The imaginative footage was traced back to an Instagram creator, ‘hyporaultraworks’, who is known for sharing AI-generated architectural concepts. The creator confirmed the video was an “imaginative AI concept” that unexpectedly went viral, amassing over 50 million views.
While Saudi Arabia is pursuing ambitious infrastructure, including sporting arenas as part of its futuristic megacity project, The Line, the soaring “Sky Stadium” remains purely a digital illusion.
