Romario Shepherd joins elite club with T20I hat-trick against Bangladesh
CHATTOGRAM: West Indies right-arm pacer Romario Shepherd etched his name into the history books on Friday, becoming just the second West Indian and the second overall bowler to register a hat-trick in T20Is.
Shepherd achieved the milestone in the third T20I against Bangladesh, dismissing Nurul Hasan, Tanzid Hasan, and Shoriful Islam across two overs to finish with figures of 3/36. He joins teammate Jason Holder as the only West Indians with a T20I hat-trick.
His stellar effort helped restrict Bangladesh to 151, despite a blistering 89 off 62 balls from opener Tanzid Hasan.
In the modest chase of 152, half-centuries from stand-in skipper Roston Chase (50 off 29) and Ackeem Auguste (50 off 25) guided West Indies to a comfortable five-wicket victory with 19 balls to spare (152/5 in 16.5 overs).
The victory completed a 3-0 series sweep for the West Indies in the T20I series.
