KULGAM: The Department of Agriculture Kashmir has taken swift and comprehensive action following reports regarding the spurious DAP (Di-Ammonium Phosphate) fertilizer consignment in the Kakran area of district Kulgam.

Immediately after the matter came to noticea team of enforcement officers from the Agriculture Department were directed to assess the situation and verify the authenticity of the reported material. The team conducted a detailed field inspectionduring which samples of the suspected fertilizer were collected and forwarded to the notified laboratory for scientific analysis to ascertain its composition and quality.

Findings of the tests report from the quality control laboratory Srinagar indicated that the said material does not meet the standards prescribed under the Fertilizer Control Order (FCO) for DAP fertilizer.On recieving the report Director Agriculture Kashmir alongwith Deputy Director law enforcement and team of enforcement officers rushed to the spot and initiated proceedings under the relevant provisions of lawand directed the concerned officers to take strict action against the defaulter and seized the material on the spot.

The Director Agriculture Kashmir has directed all Chief Agriculture Officers and enforcement wing to maintain heightened vigilance and investigate the matter in a coordinated manner across all districts to prevent the circulation of any spurious or misbranded fertilizers. He reiterated that the department is fully committed to ensuring that only genuine and quality inputs reach the farming community.

The Department has advised farmers to procure fertilizers exclusively from authorized dealers and to immediately inform the nearest Agriculture office in case of any suspected substandard material.

The Department reaffirmed its dedication to protecting the interests of the farmers and maintaining transparency and accountability in the supply of agricultural inputs across the Kashmir Division.
