DC Shopian emphasised on strengthening fight against substance abuse

SHOPIAN: District Level Narco Coordination (NCORD) committee meeting was held today at Shopian under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) ShopianShishir Gupta in order to review the measures being taken against the drug and substance abuse.

On the occasionthe DC took appraisal of department-wise action taken reports and emphasised on taking coordinated action against the drug and substance abuse.

Respective department heads intimated on the progressaction being taken including police actionawareness campstreatment facility at DHsupervision in educational institutionsinspection of phamaciesetc.

The DC called for comprehensive enforcement of drug dispensing norms by pharmacies with focus on conducting prescription audit and strengthening the fight against drug abuse.

Stress was also laid on conducting more IEC activities in hotspot areasinitiating the highest degree of penal action on drug peddlers and keeping close vigil on educational institutions and coaching institutions.

The alarming situation of substance abuse was highlighted and stakeholders were instructed to take more result oriented action on wild cannabis destruction drives and creating awareness along with other measures.
