Kulgam: In a significant push towards fostering self-reliance and entrepreneurial growth among the youth, District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC) Kulgam, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, Monday approved 106 new self-employment proposals under the ambitious Mission YUVA scheme.
The meeting held at the DC Office Complex, witnessed detailed deliberations over the proposals that had been scrutinized and recommended for approval by the Small Business Development Unit (SBDU) after due verification and feasibility assessment. The SBDU had conducted a rigorous appraisal of each application before presenting them to the DLIC.
The newly approved cases span over a diverse array of sectors, including agriculture and allied activities, retail ventures, services, small-scale manufacturing and other skill-based enterprises. The variety of business ideas reflects the growing entrepreneurial spirit among the youth of the district and their willingness to explore innovative livelihood options.
While speaking on the occasion, DClauded the collective efforts of the SBDU, BHDs and field functionaries in identifying, guiding, and mentoring aspiring youth entrepreneurs. He emphasized that Mission YUVA is not just a scheme, but a movement aimed at empowering the younger generation with tools for sustainable income generation and self-worth.
DC issued instructions to ensure timely disbursement of financial assistance, active mentoring post-approval, and continuous monitoring of the performance and viability of the sanctioned units. He reiterated the importance of structured weekly review mechanisms, with BHD meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays, SBDU sittings every Friday, and DLIC reviews every Saturday, to maintain momentum and transparency in the implementation process.
GM DIC, DSWO, AD Employment, Lead Bank Manager, DDM NABARD, DNO JKEDI, CCO & EO DE&CC Kulgam attended the meeting and shared their insights regarding inter-departmental coordination and timely support to the approved beneficiaries.
With the addition of these 106 cases, the cumulative outreach of Mission YUVA in Kulgam continues to expand, reaffirming the administration’s steadfast commitment to create a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem and nurturing youth-driven economic development.
