Law enforcement wing inspects Agri-input Centres across Jammu, Samba Districts

JAMMU: The Law Enforcement Wing of the Department of Agriculture, Jammu & Kashmir, today carried out rigorous inspections and checking at the Agri-input distribution centres across Jammu and Samba districts.

The inspection was conducted under the direction and supervision of Assistant Director Law Enforcement (ADLE) Jammu Kuldeep Singh.

Enforcement Inspector Jammu Nazish Altaf led detailed inspections in different areas of Jammu district, particularly in R.S. Pura and Marh blocks, while Enforcement Inspector Samba, Yog Raj Sharma conducted inspections in the Ramgarh area of Samba district.

 In addition, inspections were also carried out in the Ramgarh area of Samba district.

The primary objective of the exercise was to enforce adherence to the Seed Act, 1966, Insecticides (Pesticides) Act, 1968 and Fertilizer (Control) Order, 1985 (FCO 1985) aimed to maintain quality standards of agricultural inputs, prevent malpractices and safeguard the interests of the farming community.

During the inspections, samples of pesticides, seeds, and fertilizers were lifted for laboratory analysis. In addition, all relevant documents including licenses, sale and purchase bills, stock registers and fertilizer sale records through POS machines were thoroughly scrutinized to verify compliance with the statutory provisions.

Certain irregularities were detected during the inspection process, following which necessary actions were initiated against the erring dealers. The defaulters were cautioned and warned of stringent measures in case of any further violations of the laid-down norms.
