SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today paid heartfelt homage to the courageous personnel of the J&K Police who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, leading a solemn ceremony on Police Commemoration Day at the Police Martyrs Memorial in Zewan, Srinagar.
The Chief Minister, who was the Guest of Honour, offered floral tributes at the memorial alongside a host of high-ranking officials. The ceremony was graced by Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha as the Chief Guest, emphasizing the unified respect for the fallen heroes.
CM Abdullah was accompanied by Council of Ministers, including Sakina Itoo and Javid Ahmad Dar, and Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani. Several Members of the Legislative Assembly also joined the wreath-laying ceremony to honor the martyrs’ supreme sacrifice.
Senior government and police officials present included Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police J&K Nalin Prabhat, Additional DGP (Armed) Anand Jain, and the Principal Secretary, Home Department.
Following the formal commemoration, the Chief Minister visited a blood donation camp organized as part of the observance. He interacted with the volunteers, commending their “humanitarian spirit” and “selfless service” towards community welfare, highlighting the commitment to service that extends beyond law enforcement duties.
