Major Relief for J&K Commuters: Special Train 04687/88 Now Runs to Sangaldan with Revised Schedule
J&K: In a significant move to address heavy passenger rush and rising travel demand, Railway authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have announced a 30-day extension of the Budgam-Banihal special train service up to Sangaldan Railway Station, effective starting today.
The decision, which brings major relief to commuters, involves the special train number 04687/88 and is aimed at ensuring smoother and more comfortable travel during this period of increased passenger load.
The extension highlights the continuous evolution and transformation of the Kashmir rail network, which has recently seen major developments, including the launch of the Vande Bharat Express.
Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reported on the decision, noting that the Kashmir rail network is increasingly vital to the region. Beyond passenger connectivity—which, for the first time, links the Kashmir Valley to the rest of the country—the network plays a crucial role in freight transport. The movement of essential goods such as cement, apples, and automobiles via rail is critical to sustaining the local economy.
