Pulwama: Branch MSME Development and Facilitation Office (DFO), Srinagar, in collaboration with the Department of Management Studies IUST, Tuesday organized a one-day entrepreneurship awareness program at the CIED-IUST Foundation Campus-III.
The primary objective of the program was to create awareness among entrepreneurs and management students of IUST regarding MSME registrations, schemes, and opportunities available for aspiring business leaders.
The inaugural session was attended by Prof. A.H Moon, Dean Academic Affairs, IUST, in presence of Saheel Alaqband, Assistant Director Br. MSME DFO Srinagar; Malik Ahmad, General manager DIC Pulwama; Prof. Parvez A. Mir, CEO, CIED-IUST Foundation; Syed Zeeshan Andrabi, Functional Manager, DIC Pulwama; Er. Samrah Shakeel, OSD Skill Development; Sajid Hussain Shah, Young Professional MSME, members of CIED-IUST Foundation, entrepreneurs, and students.
Prof. A.H. Moon interacted with the participants on the importance of entrepreneurship in Tuesday’s dynamic world, encouraging them to pursue it as a viable career path. Citing practical examples, he emphasized that entrepreneurs must be willing to take risks.
Saheel Alqaband highlighted that the Kashmir Valley holds immense potential for establishing processing units, particularly apple processing units, which can generate significant employment opportunities while also safeguarding farmers from potential losses.
Prof. Parvez A. Mir emphasized the role of CIED-IUST in funding, mentoring, and supporting young entrepreneurs, outlining opportunities provided by the incubation ecosystem.
Syed Zeeshan Andrabi provided awareness about district industry loan schemes and subsidies available for both small and large-scale businesses. He also discussed the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) schemes, aimed at promoting self-employment and enterprise development.
Er. Samrah Shakeel discussed skill development courses and encouraged students to leverage skill-based learning as a foundation for successful entrepreneurship
The event proved to be highly informative and impactful, leaving participants with valuable insights into entrepreneurial opportunities, government support systems, and the importance of skill development in building sustainable enterprises.
