DC Poonch reviews progress of Land Acquisition for Government Projects

POONCH: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a meeting in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex to review the progress of land acquisition for major developmental projects, including NH-144A and the Rajouri–Thanamandi–Surankote (RTS) road.
During the meeting, the DC inquired about the status of land acquisition, compensation disbursed, pending cases and liabilities towards the concerned departments. A detailed discussion was held, wherein officers briefed the Deputy Commissioner about the present status of land acquisition and the steps taken to address issues.
The DC directed officers to expedite the process and ensure timely resolution of bottlenecks so that these vital developmental works are completed within stipulated timelines. He emphasized strict adherence to timelines for disbursement of land compensation in favour of affected landowners, while also stressing the importance of close inter-departmental coordination for smooth execution.
The Deputy Commissioner also took stock of issues raised by the executing agencies, including CS Construction Company Ltd. and Patel Engineering Pvt. Ltd., and assured necessary support from the administration. Reviewing the Parnaie Hydel Project, the DC laid special emphasis on ensuring adequate safety and security measures for the workers engaged in the project.
The meeting was attended by SSP Shafket Hussain Bhat, ADC Tahir Mustafa Malik, ACR Mohd. Sayeed, SDMs of Surankote and Mendhar, Collector Land Acquisition (Defence), SE PWD and Hydraulic, Xen PWD (R&B), Xen JPDCL and Transmission, Officer Commanding 79 RCC and 58 RCC, District Mineral Officer, Project Managers of CS Construction Company Ltd. and Patel Engineering Pvt. Ltd., besides other concerned officers.
