JAMMU: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has intensified efforts to improve civic amenities by launching a special drive for repair and restoration of street lights across the city. The campaign aims to ensure that every lane, road, and public space in Jammu remains well-lit, thereby enhancing public safety, convenience and quality of life.
To review the functioning of this initiative at the grassroots level, Commissioner JMC, Dr. Devansh Yadav today visited the street light repair camp organized at Roopnagar. The camp witnessed active participation of former councillors, local residents and community leaders, who welcomed this initiative and expressed their appreciation for the Corporation’s citizen-friendly approach.
During the inspection, Dr. Yadav interacted with municipal employees managing the camp as well as the residents registering their complaints. He personally reviewed the complaint registration mechanism and assured people that their grievances would be resolved on priority.
The Commissioner directed the officials present to ensure that all registered complaints are resolved within 15 days. Stressing the importance of accountability, he instructed teams to monitor progress ward-wise and to submit regular reports on resolved cases.
He also appealed to the public to take maximum benefit of this facility, encouraging citizens to register their complaints either by visiting these ward-level camps or by using the online complaint registration system provided by JMC.
Under this special drive, street light repair camps are being set up in every ward of Jammu city, providing residents a convenient platform to register their grievances locally. At the same time, JMC has strengthened its online complaint system, making it possible for people to register issues digitally without visiting the camps. This dual approach is designed to make the process more inclusive, transparent and efficient.
Local residents of Roopnagar ward expressed satisfaction with the initiative, noting that having direct access to officials in their locality helps build trust and ensures quicker redressal. Former councillors present at the camp lauded the Commissioner’s proactive approach and described it as a step towards more responsive urban governance.
The ongoing campaign forms part of JMC’s broader vision to modernize civic infrastructure and enhance public services in Jammu. By combining on-ground outreach with digital grievance redressal platforms, the Corporation is striving to ensure that no complaint goes unresolved and that Jammu’s street lighting network is restored to an efficient and modern standard.
