Poonch: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Poonch successfully organized football trials for Under-19 boys and girls Tuesday here at the Sports Stadium. The event was conducted under the overall supervision of the District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), Mohammad Qasim.
School Students from across the district participated in large numbers, showcasing their talent, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship. The trials served as a crucial platform for identifying budding footballers and encouraging inclusive participation in sports.
Activity In-Charge, Vijay Kumar ensured the smooth and transparent conduct of the trials. Incharge ZPEO Sarla Bakshi was the venue in-charge for this district-level competition.
To ensure a fair and merit-based selection, dedicated selection committees were constituted under the chairmanship of PEM Rajinder Singh. PET Tarlochan Singh, a certified NIS coach, played a key role in the evaluation process. The panels also included experienced Physical Education Lecturers (PELs), Masters (PEMs), Teachers (PETs), and REKs, who collectively ensured a rigorous and unbiased assessment of talent.
The players shortlisted through these trials will represent Poonch district in the upcoming divisional-level competitions.
The successful event marked another milestone in DYSS Poonch’s ongoing efforts to foster a vibrant sports culture and nurture young talent across the region. With a packed sports calendar ahead, the department remains committed to promoting athletic excellence and youth engagement through sports.
