Jammu : Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Ahmed Rana, Tuesday chaired a review meeting at the Civil Secretariat here to assess and address the pressing drinking water related issues in various localities of Jammu city.
The Minister impressed upon the concerned officers to formulate both short-term and long-term strategies to ensure that the existing as well as future drinking water requirements of the city are met in a sustainable manner. He underscored the importance of ensuring a regular, adequate and reliable water supply for the public. He directed the officials to respond promptly and effectively to public grievances.
During the deliberations, the Minister reviewed the proposal for permanent restoration of the Sitlee Water Treatment Plant. He instructed the concerned authorities to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) at the earliest to facilitate timely execution of the project.
To further augment the drinking water supply in Chaman Vihar and adjoining areas, the Minister directed to make the pumping water station fully operational within a week.
