Emphasis laid on coordinated arrangements, security preparedness and cultural activities

Pulwama: Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, Monday chaired a preliminary meeting here at circuit house Pulwama to review the arrangements for the upcoming Republic Day 2026 celebrations in the district.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted that the past celebrations had set a strong benchmark in terms of coordination, discipline and public participation. He expressed appreciation for the collective efforts of all stakeholders in successful celebration of past national events and emphasised that the forthcoming Republic Day 2026 celebrations be organised by carrying forward these positive practices, with emphasis on orderly planning, broad-based participation and timely execution.
During the meeting, Dr. Qayoom directed all departments to work in close coordination for the seamless execution of the celebrations. Special focus was laid on venue preparedness, including arrangements for seating, sound systems, illumination, transport and overall logistical management of the event.
The Health Department was instructed to ensure adequate medical preparedness at the venue, including the availability of medical professionals, first aid facilities and ambulance services, particularly in view of prevailing winter conditions.
Emphasising the significance of Republic Day, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of organising vibrant and culturally enriching programmes, showcasing local traditions alongside national spirit. He also reiterated strict compliance with the National Anthem protocol and Flag Code to ensure respectful hoisting and handling of the National Flag.
In addition, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to organise activities and programmes in accordance with the phase 2 of the year-long Action Plan for the commemoration of 150 years of “Vande Mataram”, so as to further strengthen the spirit of patriotism and national integration among the masses.
Dr. Qayoom also instructed officers to compile a comprehensive list of government officials, social workers, agricultural entrepreneurs, sports personalities and other individuals who have rendered exemplary services in their respective fields, for due recognition & felicitation during the Republic Day celebrations.
The meeting was attended by senior officers of district administration, Police and CRPF along with all district and sectoral officers.
