Budgam: In view of the predictions of harsh snowfall, SDM Khansahib, Jahangir Ahmad Giri, convened an urgent review meeting with all the sub divisional level officers of line departments and Police Department to assess winter preparedness and ensure timely response to public hardships.
During the meeting, the SDM directed all concerned officers to remain stationed in their respective areas, stay alert, informed, updated and fully prepared to tackle any untoward situation arising due to severe weather conditions. He also instructed the establishment of a 24×7 helpline to address public grievances and emergencies promptly.
The departments dealing with snow clearance have been instructed to keep machinery pre-positioned and manpower and other material ready and readily available. it was stressed that the officers shall themselves monitor and supervise the thing on ground. The essential service departments have have directed to ensure regular and uninterrupted delivery of services.
The SDM reviewed the availability and status of food supplies, petrol, diesel and kerosene oil and directed food supplies department to complete distribution of winter stock by sunday positively. it was also urged upon officers to prevent black marketing and hoarding in case national highway gets blocked.
Block Medical Officers were directed to keep doctors, paramedical staff and ambulances alert and on job as per the roster.
The meeting was attended by SDPO Khansahib, SHO Khansahib, concerned BMOs, Executive Engineer R&B Budgam, AEE Jal Shakti, PDD, Mechanical Department, and other line departments.
Later, the SDM also inspected various municipal areas of Khansahib to take stock of winter challenges, preparedness and on-ground arrangements.
Meanwhile, Subdivisional administration has appealed to general public and those residing in vulnerable areas in particular and it’s adjacent areas to refrain from venturing in and around slopes and higher reaches until weather improves.
