NEW DELHI: Double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker and ISSF World Cup Final gold medallist Simranpreet Kaur Brar delivered commanding performances on Monday to secure gold medals at the 68th National Shooting Championship Competitions (NSCC). The events, held at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, saw India’s elite shooters reaffirm their dominance in the 25m sports pistol category.
In the senior women’s final, Manu Bhaker showcased her clinical precision, shooting a score of 36 to claim the top spot. She finished comfortably ahead of Karnataka’s Divya T.S., who secured the silver medal with 32 hits. Anjali Choudhary rounded out the podium, taking home the bronze with a score of 28. Despite qualifying fourth, Bhaker’s experience proved decisive in the elimination stages of the final.
Simranpreet Kaur Brar continued her exceptional run of form in the junior women’s 25m sports pistol event. Fresh off her recent World Cup success, Brar shot a remarkable 39 in the final to bag the gold medal. Dwaram Pranavi earned the silver, while Palak of Haryana took the bronze medal with 20 hits.
Senior Team: Maharashtra (Shital Desai, Abhidnya Patil, and Rahi Sarnobat) clinched gold with a score of 1726-40x. Junior Team: The Army Marksmanship Unit secured the gold, followed by Delhi (silver) and Punjab (bronze).
The championships continue this week with the Men’s Skeet finals in New Delhi and the Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions in Bhopal.
