Kishtwar : The District Administration Kishtwar, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma, has intensified the IEC campaign under the aegis of Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir initiative to address drug abuse at the grassroots level.
In continuation to the campaign, a series of awareness drives were conducted Monday at the village and panchayat levels.
The widespread campaign, spanning all 13 administrative blocks of the district, has drawn active involvement from the social spectrum, including residents, students, teachers, youth groups and local influencers.
The central goal is to educate citizens about the harmful impact of drug misuse and to inspire collective efforts toward achieving a drug-free (“Nasha Mukt”) environment.
Every Monday, awareness events are being organized across different panchayats, where resource persons appointed by the administration engage with the people.
The resource persons are drawn from Social Welfare, Health, Police, Education and Rural Development Department, among others. The sessions aim to maintain continuous engagement and provide meaningful education on the dangers of drug abuse directly to rural populations.
Monday’s focus was on conducting awareness drives in educational institutions, making schools and colleges the epicenters of change and learning. At the District Headquarters, the main program was held at Mother’s Pride School in Ward No. 13.
During the daylong events, dedicated nodal officers and nodal agencies led impactful information-sharing activities in multiple villages across all 13 blocks of the District. The events promoted public dialogue and heightened awareness.
In view of the winter vacations, the campaign is now focused on gram panchayats.
The overall events are being organized under the guidance of DSWO Tariq Parveaz Qazi who is also the District Nodal Officer of NCORD.
