J&K IT Department hosts workshop on 5G network, RoW

JAMMU: The J&K Information Technology Department today organised a one-day workshop on 5G Network and Right of Way (RoW), aimed at accelerating the digital infrastructure expansion in the Union Territory.

Dr. Piyush Singla, Administrative Secretary, Information Technology Department, was the chief guest at the event. He emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination mechanisms for seamless 5G rollout in the region. He highlighted the significance of the Call Before You Dig (CBUD) initiative in preventing damage to underground utilities and ensuring safe excavation practices.

The workshop focused on inter-departmental coordination, streamlining RoW procedures and preparing the ecosystem for rapid 5G infrastructure deployment. Experts from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Information Technology Department delivered presentations on national policies, procedural challenges and best practices.

The Information Technology Department extended its gratitude to the officials from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and its own team for their contributions to the 5G Network and RoW workshop. These included Kushwant Rai, Neeraj Kumar, Rahul Kumar Sachan, Abhay Kumar, Kuldeep Kumar Sehrawat, Dwarika Karol, Ram Babu and Maneesh Jain.

The Department also acknowledged Rachna Sharma, Nodal Officer (Capacity Building), for her pivotal role in organizing the workshop.
