MALAGA, Spain (ATP):Italy has won its fourth Davis Cup title, securing a decisive 2-0 victory over Spain in yesterday’s final. This victory marks Italy’s third straight championship win on home soil, an achievement that makes them the first team after the United States to win three consecutive Davis Cups.
The title was sealed by singles victories from Matteo Berrettini and Flavio Cobolli.
Matteo Berrettini provided the first point for Italy by defeating Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta with a strong 6-3, 6-4 scoreline.
The championship was clinched by Flavio Cobolli, who fought back from a set down to beat Jaume Munar 1-6, 7-6 (5), 7-5, giving Italy an unbeatable lead in the final match.
The victory celebrates Italy’s rising stature in international men’s tennis.
