Kupwara : Assistant Labour Commissioner Kupwara, in collaboration with the Block Development Office Ramhall, Thursday organized an Awareness-cum-Interaction Camp at Block Headquarters Ramhall.

The programme aimed to raise awareness among workers about their rights and entitlements under various labour laws and social security schemes (SSS), including the Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) Act, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PMSYM), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).

During the event, cheques amounting to ₹1.21 lakh were distributed among beneficiaries as educational assistance, while an additional ₹40,000 was disbursed on account of funeral assistance under the BOCW welfare scheme. These measures were aimed at supporting registered workers and their families under the ongoing welfare initiatives of the Labour Department.

The BDO Ramhall also issued over 100 employment certificates on the spot, furthering the vision of governance at the doorstep and prompt public service delivery.

An extensive interactive session was also conducted, during which participants were briefed about the benefits and eligibility criteria of various schemes. Workers were encouraged to express their issues and grievances freely and many of these were addressed and resolved on the spot by the concerned officers, reflecting the administration’s commitment to responsive and people-friendly governance.

During the camp, workers were urged to get themselves registered with the Labour Department to avail the multiple benefits available under different schemes.
