THIMPHU, BHUTAN: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today assured the nation that the “conspirators behind the horrific incident in Delhi” would not be spared, vowing that all those responsible would be “brought to justice.”
Addressing an event in Thimphu, Bhutan, the Prime Minister revealed that he was in continuous contact with the agencies investigating the incident throughout the night. Mr. Modi stressed that authorities would “go to the very bottom of this conspiracy.”
The Prime Minister acknowledged the difficulty of proceeding with his scheduled visit following the events in the capital. “Today, I have come to Bhutan with a very heavy heart and the incident in Delhi last evening has deeply disturbed everyone,” he stated.
Expressing his solidarity with the victims, Mr. Modi emphasized that he understands the pain of the affected families and assured them that the “entire nation stands with them.”
Despite the grave news from home, the Prime Minister also highlighted the significance of the occasion in Bhutan, calling it “very important for Bhutan, for the royal family of Bhutan and for all people who believe in world peace.”
He underscored the historically “deep, cordial, and cultural” relationship between India and Bhutan, asserting that his participation in the important event was a commitment both for India and for him personally.
The nature of the “horrific incident” in Delhi has not been detailed in the Prime Minister’s remarks, but his assurance of a comprehensive investigation suggests a high-priority response from Indian agencies.
