Banihal: In line with the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan and SSP Ramban, Arun Gupta, a joint inspection was conducted by the Police and the Drug Inspector in the Banihal area to assess compliance with drug control regulations and address safety concerns.

The directions were issued during a meeting of the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) chaired by the Deputy Commissioner to deliberate on the prevailing issues related to drug trafficking, substance abuse and associated public health and safety concerns in the district.

The inspections are being carried out in coordination with the Revenue, Drug Control and Police Departments to ensure strict adherence to regulatory norms governing the sale and distribution of pharmaceutical substances.

A key focus of the directive was to ensure that no chemist shop is involved in the illegal sale of psychotropic drugs and that all CCTV cameras installed in these establishments are functional. This measure aims to deter illegal activities and strengthen accountability in the pharmaceutical retail sector.

The inspection teams were tasked with thoroughly examining the record-keeping practices of pharmacies, particularly regarding the sale of psychotropic medicines, which require stringent regulation.

The District Administration reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining strict oversight and ensuring a drug-free and safe environment across Ramban district.
