Bandipora: The District Administration Bandipora Friday joined the rest of the nation in celebrating 150 years of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’, marking the beginning of a year-long commemoration programme.

As part of the celebrations, officers, officials, students, and citizens across the district participated in the live broadcast of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s address from New Delhi.

The main event in Bandipora district was held at the Mini Secretariat Bandipora, where the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib; Senior Superintendent of Police Bandipora, Ajaz Ahmad Zargar; Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zaffar Husson Shawl; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Bandipora, Shabir Ahmad Wani; Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Bandipora, Assistant Commissioner Development Bandipora, Chief Agriculture Officer Bandipora, District Information Officer Bandipora, officers from other departments, ASHA and Anganwadi workers; and other officials were present.

The event was organized to honour the timeless legacy of Vande Mataram, a song that has inspired unity, patriotism, and a deep sense of national pride for generations.

The live broadcast was followed by the mass singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ across schools, colleges, and public places in Bandipora, symbolizing the collective spirit of harmony and devotion to the nation.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that Vande Mataram is more than a song, it is a tribute to the nation’s struggle for freedom and a reminder of the values that continue to unite India. She called upon all departments, institutions, and communities to actively participate in the year-long commemoration programme, which will include cultural, educational, and awareness activities celebrating national pride.

Similar events were also held across Government Degree Colleges, educational institutions, and offices throughout the district, where officers, staff members, and students enthusiastically participated in the live broadcast and mass singing of Vande Mataram.

As part of the year-long commemoration, a series of programmes will be organized across Bandipora viz. mass singing events, cultural evenings, essay and quiz competitions, school and college assemblies, exhibitions, patriotic band performances, and awareness campaigns in synchronization with national activities

These activities aim to rekindle patriotic fervour, celebrate India’s cultural heritage, and promote public participation in honour of 150 Years of Vande Mataram.
