Srinagar: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar recently celebrated the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram with a commemorative event that also launched a “Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign.”
The event featured a collective pledge and mass singing of Vande Mataram, followed by a Tobacco Awareness Rally where participants advocated for a tobacco-free environment. The ceremony was attended by key figures including In-charge Director Prof. (Dr.) Roohie Naaz Mir and Registrar Prof. Atikur Rahman, along with over 200 students. Director Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia emphasized the importance of Vande Mataram as a symbol of unity and urged students to engage in nation-building through responsible actions. Dr. Pramod Yadav highlighted the significance of self-discipline and healthy living as foundational to serving the nation, while Lt. Dr. Nitika Kundan underscored the role of youth in driving social change. As part of the campaign, the Medical Health Unit organized a free dental check-up camp to raise awareness about oral hygiene and the dangers of tobacco use.
