Srinagar: The District Administration Kishtwar is all set to commemorate 150 years of the national song “Vande Mataram” with grandeur and patriotic fervor.

In this regard, Deputy Commissioner, Pankaj Kumar Sharma Tuesday chaired a meeting of officers from the line departments in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex.

The meeting focused on finalizing the detailed activity plan and modalities for the upcoming celebrations to be held from November 7 to November 14, 2025 in first phase.

At the outset, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pawan Kotwal briefed the meeting about the objectives, framework and schedule of events planned for the celebration. He informed that the commemorative campaign will unfold in four phases, commencing with a mega inaugural event on November 7 at the New DC Office Complex.

The inaugural ceremony will feature flag hoisting, invocation of “Vande Mataram,” cultural performances, screening of short films, felicitation of artists and a handicraft and handloom exhibition to be organized by the Department of Handicrafts & Handloom, Kishtwar.

The week-long celebration will include a series of engaging and patriotic activities such as essay and quiz competitions, exhibitions on the freedom struggle and “Vande Mataram,” police band performances, mural and wall paintings on patriotic themes, cleanliness drives, youth rallies, mini-marathons and documentary screenings to be organized by various concerned departments.

While emphasizing the importance of the event, the DC Kishtwar underscored that the commemoration should embody the spirit of unity, patriotism and cultural pride.

He directed the departments to work in close coordination to ensure active participation from citizens, students and youth across the district.

The DC emphasized that the celebrations shall be people-centric, reflecting patriotic spirit and cultural vibrancy.

Heads of departments and educational institutions were directed to ensure maximum public participation through meticulous planning, effective coordination, and innovative execution of the planned activities.
