Kishtwar : The District Administration Kishtwar, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department and the District Employment &Career Counseling Centre, organized a one-day Entrepreneurship Mela for individuals recovering from substance abuse to integrate them in to the mainstream.
The event was graced by Deputy Commissioner, Pankaj Kumar Sharma as the Chief Guest.
The primary objective of the Mela was to provide recovering individuals with guidance, motivation and loan assistance under the Mission Yuva and other schemes to help them establish their own ventures and achieve economic independence.
The initiative aligns with the administration’s broader mission to facilitate the social and economic reintegration of recovering individuals through livelihood opportunities.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the administration’s commitment to supporting the holistic rehabilitation of patients recovering from substance abuse.
“We are dedicated to ensuring that every individual who overcomes addiction is given an opportunity to rebuild his life. Through entrepreneurship and financial assistance, we aim to restore confidence, purpose and stability,” the DC remarked.
He further encouraged the participants to stay determined and positive, highlighting that strong willpower and the right mindset can help them overcome all challenges.
District Social Welfare Officer/Nodal Officer NCORD, Kishtwar, Tariq Parveaz Qazi expressed gratitude to Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma for his continued guidance and support. He also detailed the preventive and rehabilitative measures being undertaken by the Social Welfare Department to curb substance abuse in the district.
The Mela witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 00 recovering patients, many of whom expressed optimism about their future prospects. The Social Welfare and Employment Departments reaffirmed their commitment to continue similar initiatives in the future, underlining the importance of community participation in the rehabilitation process.
This initiative marks a progressive step towards creating a drug-free and self-reliant Kishtwar, reflecting the administration’s proactive approach to tackling addiction through empowerment, employment and empathy.
