MLAs raise key public issues in Legislative Assembly

SRINAGAR: Several members of the Legislative Assembly today raised pressing public issues of their respective constituencies during the Zero Hour in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assemblyurging the Government to take prompt action.

MLAs Shakti Raj Parihar (Doda West)Advocate Vijay Gupta (Hiranagar)and Pawan Gupta (Udhampur West) urged the Education department to expedite the Annual Transfer Drive (ATD) for teachers posted in far-flung areas of the Jammu division and immediately conduct Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) for teachers and lecturers awaiting elevation.

Responding to the concernsMinister in-chargeEducation DepartmentSakeena Itoo informed the House that the matter is already under process and a committee has been constituted for carrying out ATD timely.

Raising the issue of harassment faced by tribal populationsMLA HandwaraSajad Gani Lone and MLA KanganMian Mehar Ali urged the government to ensure that forest officials refrain from unnecessary interference and to safeguard the rights of forest-dwelling communities.

During this session MLA BandiporaNizammudin Bhat emphasized on the need to uphold the Business Rules of the House to maintain decorum and ensure smooth legislative proceedings.

MLA RambanArjun Singh Raju called the attention of the House towards the need for posting an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) in the PHE Sub-Division of Ramban constituency to ensure smooth functioning of the department.

MLA BanihalSajad Shaheen drew attention to a recent fire incident in Banihal constituency and urged the government to provide adequate reliefrehabilitationand compensation to the affected families.

MLA Jammu EastYudhvir Sethi expressed concern over rampant encroachments along the Tawi River and cautioned that such illegal constructions could face severe damage during future floods.

MLA BhaderwahDaleep Singh Parihar sought adequate funds for the restoration of flood-damaged infrastructure and relief measures for affected people in his constituency.

MLA RamgarhDr. Devinder Kumar ManyaL highlighted the plight of farmers who have been allotted custodian land in Jammu but are yet to receive benefits under different government schemes. He urged the government to extend such benefits to these cultivators as well.

MLA UriDr. Sajjad Shafi demanded a dedicated fire tender for Boniyar and sought rehabilitation support for the Darul Uloom institution recently damaged in a fire incident.

MLA PamporeJustice(Retd) Hasnain Masoodi called for a detailed discussion on the detention of MLA Mehraj Malik and sought urgent de-silting of river channels to prevent recurrent flooding in Pampore.

MLA LolabQaysar Jamshaid Lone urged the administration to devise early snow-clearance plan for his constituency and establish a transformer bank to ensure uninterrupted power supply during winter months.

MLA ZainaporaShowkat Hussain Ganai sought the introduction of Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) for B and C grade apple produce to protect the interests of fruit growers.

MLA RS Pora SouthNarendra Singh Raina raised the issue of hardships faced by members of the ST-2 category in obtaining certificates in Jammu district and sought a streamlined process for them.

MLA Shangus-Anantnag EastReyaz Ahmad Khan proposed making it mandatory for postgraduate doctors to serve in rural areas for a fixed tenure through a service bond mechanism to address rural healthcare gaps.

MLA KupwaraMir Mohammad Fayaz sought one-time amnesty for economically weaker power consumers unable to clear their long-pending dues.

MLA Wagoora-KreeriIrfan Hafiz Lone requested the Speaker to consider suspending certain business rules to allow a detailed discussion on the arrest of MLA Mehraj Malik.

MLA ZadibalTanvir Ali Sadiq drew attention to the difficulties faced by residents of lake areas in Srinagar in obtaining permissions for building or renovating their houses and sought policy intervention to address the issue.

MLA ThannamandiMuzaffar Iqbal Khan sought compensation for farmers whose crops were recently damaged in floods and also urged inclusion of his area’s consumers under the proposed one-time power amnesty scheme.

MLA DooruGhulam Ahmad Mir requested equitable time allocation for all members to effectively represent their constituencies during Assembly proceedings.

MLA Jammu WestArvind Gupta urged the government to ensure completion and optimal use of the infrastructure at the B&J HospitalJammubesides improving civic amenities in his constituency.

MLA Khan SahibSaif-ud-Din Bhat called for sanctioning an additional degree college and establishment of a Controlled Atmosphere (CA) storage facility to support the horticulture sector in his area.

MLA AkhnoorMohan Lal Bhagat sought sufficient funds for the restoration of flood-damaged infrastructure in his constituency and demanded a comprehensive flood mitigation plan to be implemented in the upcoming winter season to protect vulnerable areas there.

MLA GurezNazir Ahmad Khan Gurezi took this occasion to highlight the performance of the government during the past year and appreciated various developmental initiatives undertaken across the Union Territory.
