KULGAM: Deputy Commissioner (DC) KulgamAthar Aamir Khantoday chaired a review meeting at the Meeting Hall of the Mini Secretariat to assess the targets achieved under the ‘Catch the Rain’ Campaign 2025implemented through the Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP).
The meeting reviewed key interventions including the construction of water harvesting tanksgabion structuresirrigation khulsplantationsand strengthening of Nallah bunds. The DC directed officials to expedite the pace of execution to ensure timely completion of all ongoing works.
Stressing the importance of inter-departmental coordinationthe DC called for effective convergence with MGNREGAbesides active involvement of the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments to enhance the overall impact and outreach of the programme.
The DC further instructed all concerned departments to scale up activities under the campaign and ensure that progress is regularly updated on the designated portal to facilitate effective monitoring and transparency.
Highlighting the significance of the initiativethe DC emphasized that the ‘Catch the Rain’ Campaign plays a vital role in water conservationgroundwater rechargeand strengthening irrigation infrastructureparticularly in water-scarce areas of the district.
