Harshit Rana, Rohit Sharma Lead India to Nine- Wicket win, Clinch ODI Series Against Australia
SYDNEY: India defeated Australia by nine wickets in the third and final match of the three-match One Day International (ODI) series at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), wrapping up the series with a commanding victory.
The win came after a clinical chase led by a century from captain Rohit Sharma and a solid half-century from star batter Virat Kohli.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the hosts Australia were bowled out for 236 runs in 46.4 overs, setting India a target of 237.
Australia’s batting effort was anchored by opener Matt Renshaw, who top-scored with 56 runs. Contributions also came from Mitchell Marsh (41) and Matthew Short (30), but the team struggled to build substantial partnerships against a disciplined Indian bowling attack.
The Indian bowlers were highly effective, with pace bowler Harshit Rana being the pick of the attack, claiming an impressive four wickets. Spinner Washington Sundar provided valuable support, taking two wickets.
Rohit Sharma led the charge, smashing his 33rd ODI century to set a formidable foundation.
Virat Kohli provided the perfect foil, remaining solid at the crease after bringing up his fifty.
The pair’s dominant performance ensured India cruised towards the target, ultimately securing the nine-wicket victory with ease and ensuring a comfortable series triumph.
