Cites ‘Prevailing Circumstances,’ Proposes Neutral Venue
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) on Thursday announced the withdrawal of its men’s team from the Junior Hockey World Cup, scheduled to be played in India from November 28 to December 10.
PHF Secretary Rana Mujahid stated that the federation has formally informed the International Hockey Federation (FIH) of the decision, citing “the prevailing circumstances” as the reason for non-participation. “It is by no means appropriate to travel to India and play under the current situation,” he said.
The federation also proposed the option of playing Pakistan’s matches at a neutral venue instead of in India.
This is the second major international hockey event Pakistan has withdrawn from in recent months, following their pullout from the Asia Cup 2025 held in Bihar, which was won by the hosts, India.
