Directs for speedy completion of remaining works to ensure immediate commissioning of the vital project
Also takes onsite review of upgradation works for Development of Parimpora Fruit Mandi
SRINAGAR: The Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, today conducted an onsite visit to Rs 14.77 crore nearing completion vital project of Noor Jehan Bridge over River Jhelum at Qamarwari and assessed the progress of ongoing works.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz, Joint Commissioner SMC, Nuzhat Khurshid, Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Superintending Engineer R&B, Shabir Ahmad, SDM West, Irfan Bahadur, Executive Engineers of R&B, SDA, Tehsildars of Eidgah & Shalteng and other concerned.
During his visit, the DC reviewed the pace and quality of work on the bridge being constructed over the River Jhelum connecting Noorbagh with Qamarwari. He directed the concerned executing agencies to expedite the completion of remaining works to ensure speedy commissioning of the vital project, which is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the area.
He also instructed concerned Officers to remove all bottlenecks, ensuring proper road alignment and complete finishing works on a war footing.
The DC emphasized that the completion of the Noor Jehan Bridge will significantly decongest traffic on the existing Qamarwari-Cement Bridge and provide alternative connectivity between Noorbagh and Qamarwari areas across River Jhelum.
Pertinently, load testing of the bridge has been completed on the bridge.
Later, the DC visited the Parimpora Fruit Mandi, one of the largest horticultural markets in Kashmir and held a detailed interaction with Mandi members and traders.
He reviewed the progress on works undertaken for development and upgradation of the Mandi including macadamisation and upgradation of approach roads and internal links, besides other infrastructure improvements being carried out by the Srinagar Development Authority and R&B Department.
On the occasion, the DC assured the members of the Fruit Mandi that land for truck terminal has been identified and shall be developed under National Clean Air programme(NCAP) to facilitate smooth movement of vehicles, traders, and goods.
Besides, senior Officers of District Administration, President of New Kashmir Fruit Association Parimpora, Basheer Ahmad Basheer, Vice President, Anil Kumar, General Secretary Mohammad Ayoub and other members of the Association accompanied the DC during the visit to Fruit Mandi Parimpora.
JMC Commissioner conducts extensive tour of Greater Kailash
Reviews civic infrastructure, addresses public issues
JAMMU: Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Dr. Devansh Yadav today conducted an extensive tour of Ward No. 68- Greater Kailash- an important and fast-developing area within the municipal limits.
During the visit, Dr. Yadav inspected several prominent locations including Greater Kailash Shiv Mandir, Fountain Chowk, Jalochak Basti, Greater Kailash Park and Royal Avenue. The tour was aimed at assessing the on-ground condition of public infrastructure and identifying areas where developmental intervention is required.
Members of the Greater Kailash Residents Welfare Society and several locals met the Commissioner and apprised him of the pressing civic issues affecting the area. They raised various demands for improvement and up-gradation of civic amenities, including renovation and beautification of the pond near the Shiv Mandir, completion of the Nallah work to ensure proper drainage and prevent water-logging during the rainy season, laying of new lanes and drains in the Jalochak Basti to improve sanitation and connectivity, repair of the collapsed boundary wall to restore safety and aesthetics of the Greater Kailash Park and completion of pending lane and drain works in the Royal Avenue area.
Dr. Yadav listened patiently to the residents and assured them that the issues raised would be prioritized. He emphasized that the Jammu Municipal Corporation is committed to ensuring equitable development of all areas under its jurisdiction. He directed the concerned officers to prepare detailed estimates for the pending developmental works for timely completion of the same.
The Commissioner said that public participation plays a vital role in shaping a clean, sustainable and well-developed city.
Health Officer JMC, Dr. Vinod Sharma; Executive Engineer, Division 5, Er. Yasir Bashir Kitchloo; Chief Transport Officer, S. Dharamveer Singh and Sanitation Officer, Parshotam Kumar accompanied the Commissioner during the tour.
