“Always Ready”: LG Sinha’s Stern Call to J&K Police on Eliminating Terror Threats

SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today delivered a firm message to the Jammu & Kashmir Police force, asserting that they must “always be ready to eliminate terrorist threats” to safeguard the nation.

The LG’s statement came during his address on Police Commemoration Day at the Police Memorial in Zewan, Srinagar, where he paid emotional tributes to the J&K Police martyrs.

“The glorious legacy of our police personnel lives on, and their supreme sacrifices are inspiring future generations to serve and uphold the values of our great country,” the Lieutenant Governor said. He hailed the J&K Police as an “epitome of duty, discipline, loyalty and selfless service,” noting that they have “kept tricolor flying high even at the cost of their own life.”

Duty First, Technology Must: LG Sinha praised the police for their unwavering commitment across all roles—from fighting terrorism and enforcing laws to responding to emergencies like natural calamities—stressing their commitment is “to their duty first.”

Highlighting the evolving security landscape, the Lieutenant Governor stressed the critical need for innovation and smart technology. He urged the force to adopt modern solutions to strengthen policing and enable an effective response to new challenges, including new crime trends, drug smuggling, and the spread of false narratives in Jammu Kashmir.

The LG also called upon the five pillars of the criminal justice system—police, prosecution, judiciary, forensics, and prison—to work in cohesion to actively support development and ensure justice for all citizens.

Earlier, DGP Shri Nalin Prabhat read the names of the brave-hearts who made the supreme sacrifice, followed by the reversing of arms and a two-minute silence in their honour. The Lieutenant Governor also visited a Blood Donation Camp organized to mark the solemn occasion, and reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare and dignity of police personnel and their families.
