Pithoragarh: General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), concluded a morale-boosting visit to forward posts in the central sector, where he reaffirmed the Indian Army’s complete preparedness to tackle evolving security challenges and motivated troops deployed in strategically vital terrain.
General Dwivedi’s visit focused on assessing the operational posture of formations deployed in the high-altitude areas of Pithoragarh and adjacent forward posts. During his interactions, the COAS strongly invoked the core military ethos of “Service Before Self,” emphasizing its continued importance in the face of current threats.
Interacting with personnel stationed in the remote and challenging reaches, General Dwivedi expressed profound admiration for their “resilience, courage, and steadfast devotion to duty” despite the extreme climatic conditions and rough terrain.
Highlighting the strategic importance of the Kumaon region, the COAS also lauded the local community’s patriotism and resilience, acknowledging their integral role in national security.
Beyond the operational review, General Dwivedi dedicated time to strengthen vital civil-military linkages. He interacted with veterans and local communities, taking the opportunity to acknowledge their sacrifices and extend warm Diwali greetings to all ranks and their families.
