J&K Police Launches Volleyball Tournament To Promote Sports In Baramulla

Srinagar: Under the Civic Action Programme (CAP), J&K Police on Friday inaugurated a Volleyball Tournament aimed at promoting sportsmanship and community engagement among the youth. Moreover, the much-awaited Final Match of the Police Cricket Cup 2025, by District Police Baramulla, was played at the Kalapahar Ground, Uri, witnessing great enthusiasm and overwhelming public participation.

SDPO Kreeri Javid Ahmad inaugurated a Volleyball Tournament in Baramulla Under the Civic Action Programme. A total of eight teams from the area will compete in the knockout-format tournament. Besides trophies, cash prizes will also be awarded to the winning teams to encourage active participation in sports and positive youth engagement. The inaugural match was played between Al-Murad Kreeri and Wagura Club. The event was attended by SHOs of the Sub-Division and Tehsildar Kreeri. The opening match saw Wagura Club winning the toss and setting the tone for an exciting start to the tournament.

Moreover, the much-awaited Final Match of the Police Cricket Cup 2025, by District Police Baramulla, was played at the Kalapahar Ground, Uri, witnessing great enthusiasm and overwhelming public participation. The event was graced by the Worthy DIG North Kashmir Range Baramulla as the Chief Guest, while SSP Baramulla and the Brigade Commander 12 Infantry Brigade, attended as Guests of Honour. Several other senior officers, dignitaries, and respectable citizens of the area were also present on the occasion.

The thrilling final was contested between Nambla Stars and Lagama Cricket Club. In a closely fought encounter, Nambla Stars emerged as the champions, clinching the Police Cricket Cup 2025 title by defeating Lagama Cricket Club by five wickets. Lagama Cricket Club posted a total of 167 runs in 20 overs, which was successfully chased down by Nambla Stars in 18.4 overs.

On the sidelines of the sporting event, winners of the Debate Competition held under the Civic Action Programme were also felicitated. The top three participants were awarded cash prizes of ₹20,000, ₹12,000, and ₹8,000, along with mementos for securing the first, second, and third positions respectively. The champion cricket team received a cash award of ₹15,000 and a trophy, while the runner-up team was presented with a cash prize of ₹10,000 and a trophy.
