KULGAM, SEPTEMBER 17: A meeting of the District Level Committee under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) was convened today at Kulgam to discuss and strategize measures to curb drug abuse and narcotic trade in the district.
The meeting held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, reviewed the implementation of directives and decisions taken in previous sessions.
The meeting also assessed the actions taken by enforcement agencies against drug abuse and narcotic trafficking in the district.
It was informed that during the month of June, 02 drug peddlers were arrested and 01 FIR was registered in the month of August. It was further informed that the district has already achieved 100% target in the installation of CCTV cameras.
The meeting was informed that 209 inspections were carried out in pharmacies and 07 medical shops were disallowed/ suspended for violation in maintaining sale/ purchase records and two licenses were cancelled.
DC urged all stakeholders for their active participation in eradicating the drug menace.
The meeting was attended by ADC, Viqar Ahmed Giri; SDM-DH Pora, DSP Hq, College Principals of Kulgam/ Kilam /Frisal, all Tehsildars and other NCORD Committee members.
