Jammu :: Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu Ansuya Jamwal Monday chaired a meeting of officers to review the preparedness for the Eid-Milad-un-Nabi to be observed on September 5.
The meeting was attended by SP Headquarters Irshad Rather; Additional SP Traffic Arvind Kotwal; SE PHE; Sunil Gandotra; Assistant Commissioner General Sania Haq Khan; Sanitation Officer JMC; Dr. Vinod Sharma; Assistant Director Food Santosh Kumar; officers from line departments and other concerned departments, besides representatives from religious bodies.
The ADC stressed upon the officers to put in place all necessary arrangements well in advance so that devotees do not face any inconvenience during the observance of the holy day. She directed the Jammu Municipal Corporation to carry out special sanitation drives in and around mosques, shrines and procession routes and ensure proper lifting of garbage. The Health Department was asked to station medical teams and ambulances at important congregation points to meet any emergency.
The officers of the PHE and PDD departments were directed to ensure uninterrupted water and power supply, while the Food and Civil Supplies Department was instructed to intensify market checking to prevent overcharging and hoarding and to ensure adequate availability of essential commodities.
Ansuya Jamwal also reviewed security and traffic arrangements with the concerned officers, emphasising the need for adequate deployment to maintain law and order and smooth movement of processions. She called for close coordination among all departments to ensure peaceful and hassle-free celebrations.
The ADC impressed upon the officers to work in synergy and complete all necessary preparations well before the festival to facilitate the people in offering prayers and taking part in religious gatherings.
