Bandipora: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, on Friday chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress and implementation of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) in the district.
The scheme, launched by the Government of India in July 2021, aims to enhance the quality and reliability of power supply to consumers by improving operational efficiency in the distribution system and minimizing Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses.
DDC conducted a detailed division-wise review, focusing on key components of RDSS, including metering, distribution infrastructure, project management and other related activities.
The meeting also discussed the physical progress of works such as the replacement of damaged electric poles, survey activities, feeder bifurcation, and the overall implementation plan across all electric divisions of Bandipora district.
During the meeting, Project Coordinator NTPC, briefed the DC on the comprehensive scope of work under RDSS. This includes the construction of new 11 KV lines, installation of distribution transformers, reconductoring of 11 KV infrastructure, and replacing bare conductors with LT cables.
It was informed that the project, with an outlay of rupees 81 crore for Bandipora district, includes the installation of around 8,000 steel tubular poles, 600 distribution transformers, 644 LT AB cables, 612 ACSR conductors, and HT AB cables across various areas of the district.
DDC was apprised that 75% of the implementation has been completed. Current efforts are focused on 13 feeders in the Bandipora Division and 17 feeders in the Sumbal Division.
Emphasis was laid on effective resource mobilization, urging all stakeholders to carry out activities in parallel to expedite RDSS implementation. DDC stressed that all ongoing works must be completed within the stipulated timelines to ensure overall improvement in the power supply.
Qadri directed concerned officers to ensure close coordination during surveys and resolve any technical issues promptly to avoid delays. He also instructed the Executive Engineers to personally inspect sites and ensure quality improvements in electricity supply, particularly in remote areas. The project implementation agency was directed to expedite and complete works in Sub Division Gurez before the onset of winter.
DDC highlighted the importance of delivering high-quality power to consumers and called for responsible participation from both DISCOMs and consumers to realize the intended benefits of the scheme.
Among others, the meeting was attended by CPO, Executive Engineers, NTPC Project Manager and other concerned officials.
