NEW DELHI – The government has declared a “zero tolerance” policy on student safety in schools, as stated by Minister of State for Education, Jayant Chaudhary, in the Lok Sabha today. Responding to a question during the Question Hour, the minister emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all students.
Chaudhary stated that the Ministry of Education has consistently issued guidelines to states, Union Territories, and school boards to ensure the well-being of students. He highlighted that the Union Education Ministry recently sent a letter to all states and UTs, reiterating the need to prioritize student safety and well-being.
The minister’s statement comes in the context of ongoing efforts to reinforce safety protocols across the country’s educational institutions. The government’s “Guidelines on School Safety and Security-2021” emphasize a comprehensive approach to safety, including physical security, disaster preparedness, and addressing issues like bullying and violence. The guidelines also fix accountability on school management to ensure the safety of children.’ (ATP)
