Srinagar : Srinagar’s historic Clock Tower became the focal point of celebration on India’s 79th Independence Day on Friday, drawing locals and tourists alike into a lively display of patriotism and festivity.
Visitors from across the region flocked to the iconic Ghanta Ghar, creating a colorful scene as people painted their faces with the tricolor, waved flags and posed for photographs.
Groups danced to patriotic tunes while others captured the joyous moments with selfies.
“This is such a beautiful way to celebrate Independence Day. Everyone here is full of joy and patriotism,” said a local resident.
Tourists visiting Srinagar also expressed delight at the festivities. “The atmosphere is amazing, and it is heartening to see people of all ages coming together. Being part of this celebration is a memory,” said one visitor from outside Kashmir.
Many tourists also noted the Clock Tower’s charm as a city landmark. “Ghanta Ghar is iconic, but today it has become the heart of the celebration. Seeing children, youth and elders unite in this patriotic spirit is truly inspiring,” added another.
Notably, the Independence Day celebrations at Srinagar’s Clock Tower offered a blend of patriotism and festivity, making it a magnet for locals and tourists, and a reminder of the city’s cultural vibrancy
