Says will no longer tolerate “nuclear blackmail”
NEW DELHI (ATP) – In his address to the nation on the 79th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the valor of the Indian armed forces for the success of Operation Sindoor, a retaliatory strike against a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
PM Modi said the operation was a powerful testament to the military’s precision and capabilities. He stated that after the Pahalgam attack on April 22, the government gave the armed forces a “free hand” to strategize, set targets, and decide the timing of the response. The result, he said, was a decisive and “befitting reply” that punished enemies “beyond their imagination,” with the army penetrating hundreds of kilometers into enemy territory and destroying terrorist headquarters.
The Prime Minister declared a new national policy, stating, “Blood and water will not flow together.” This statement was made in the context of the Indus Waters Treaty, which he described as “unjust” and one-sided, causing “unimaginable loss” to Indian farmers for decades. Modi asserted that the waters of rivers originating in India will now be used solely for the benefit of the nation’s farmers.
In a strong message to India’s adversaries, PM Modi stated that the country will no longer tolerate “nuclear blackmail.” He warned that in the event of any future aggression, the Indian military would decide its own terms, timing, and targets to deliver a crushing response. He emphasized that those who nurture and harbor terrorism will be treated as “equal enemies of humanity.”
