Srinagar: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir V.K. Birdi on Friday presided over a high level security review meet at the Police Control Room Kashmir to finalize arrangements for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
The meeting brought together top officials from various security agencies to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of all scheduled events. During the session, officers briefed IGP Birdi on the detailed security and deployment plans. In response, Birdi issued a series of directives, emphasizing the importance of advanced preparation and meticulous planning. He assigned specific tasks to the participating officers, instructing them to execute their duties with precision. The IGP specifically ordered that security checkpoints be strengthened, particularly during nighttime hours, at vulnerable locations and along all major entry and exit routes of the city. He stressed the need for constant vigilance against elements that could pose a threat to peace and security, and called for increased area domination within all jurisdictions. The security measures for key infrastructure, including highways, railway tracks, and railway stations were also reviewed at the key meet for the places across Kashmir. The meeting concluded with a commitment from all attendees to maintain heightened vigilance and improve coordination to effectively implement security protocols. The high-level meeting was attended by a wide range of officials, including the IGP Security J&K, IGP Railways, IG BSF Ftr Hqrs, IG CRPF Srinagar, JD SIB Srinagar, all range DIsG of Kashmir Zone, and various district SSPs, among others.
