‘Kashi Sankalp’ for a Drug-Free India Released at Youth Spiritual Summit

Varanasi:  The three-day ‘Youth Spiritual Summit,’ held in Varanasi with the theme “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat,” concluded with the release of the Kashi Sankalp. The summit, organized by the government, brought together approximately 600 youth delegates from over 120 spiritual organizations to create a unified, youth-led national strategy to combat substance abuse.

The Kashi Sankalp is a consensus-based action agenda that outlines a collaborative approach to tackling drug addiction. It emphasizes a multi-stakeholder effort involving spiritual bodies, educational institutions, and government ministries. The declaration details a framework for youth-led public campaigns, institutional outreach, prevention, rehabilitation, and awareness programs.

The summit featured thematic sessions led by experts from various ministries, including Social Justice & Empowerment, Health & Family Welfare, and Home Affairs. These sessions focused on understanding addiction, decoding the peddler networks, effective campaigning, and developing a roadmap for a drug-free India by 2047. The Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, provided this information in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
