PULWAMA: Continuing its outreach under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, district administration Pulwama, in collaboration with the Social Welfare office Pulwama and the Education department, today by organised a series of awareness camps and sensitisation sessions across various government and private educational institutions in the district.
The initiative aimed to equip students with accurate knowledge about the ill-effects of substance abuse, highlight the importance of preventive measures and foster a sense of shared responsibility in building a drug-free society. Sessions were conducted in multiple educational institutes across all zones of the district, engaging hundreds of students in structured interactions led by medical professionals, trained counsellors, and educators.
In addition to informative lectures, programmes featured open house discussions, poster-making competitions, pledge-taking ceremonies, and other relevant activities.
Resource persons stressed on early identification of behavioural changes, role of peer support, and how students can seek help through local counselling services.
IEC materials such as information booklets, anti-drug pledge cards, and helpline posters were distributed among the students and faculty to extend the campaign’s message beyond the classrooms.
Speaking on the occasion, officials emphasized that the youth are both the most vulnerable to drug abuse and also the strongest agents of change. They appealed to students to act as ambassadors of the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan within their homes and neighbourhoods.
The campaign will continue in the coming weeks with more institutions being covered, ensuring that the message of abhiyan reaches every nook and corner of the district.
